2017 Triennial

The first Works on Water Triennial in June of 2017, in partnership with New Georges Theatre and Guerilla Science, was headquartered at the 3LD Art & Technology Center. It featured a world premiere immersive theatrical experience in lower Manhattan, artist installations, artist fieldworks in locations around the city, and community conversations. 



The show featured 10 COMMISSIONED ARTIST works by  Torkwase Dyson, Mare Liberum, Marie Lorenz, Clarinda Mac Low, Paloma McGregor, Mary Mattingly, Eve Mosher, Nancy Nowacek, Sarah Cameron Sunde, and Marina Zurkow/Floating Studio for Dark Ecologies

10 FIELDWORKS were presented across the 5 boroughs, including plein air painting about the climate past and future of NYC (above, courtesy Sarah Olson), a tour of Freshkills Park, a walking tour of the history of water in lower Manhattan, a walking tour of Newtown Creek, a tour of South Cove by Mary Miss, and a watery séance by sTo Len.
