Our featured First Friday guest is the wonderful and innovative artist Jan Mun who will be talking about: In Practice: Mycoremediation and BioPolitics

Jan will be sharing her art practice of working with honeybees and invasive species to discuss immigration issues and harvesting the role of fungi to remediate toxic soil and water in her local community. She explores methods to create interfaces to elicit participation as a reflection and critique of our political and social systems.

Her work with artists, ecologists, and community advocates is truly inspiring so come on out and hear for yourself.

Jan Mun is a media artist that creates social sculptures working with digital and living media. The landscape has become her framework to unfold stories about others and herself by using a combination of artistic and scientific processes that manifest in the form of interactive installations, photography, performance, and bio-art. Working with communities such as The Honeybee Conservancy, Newtown Creek Alliance, Legacy Lead Coalition, and the Soil & Microbiology labs at Brooklyn College. Jan innovates ideas to be realized through research, chance, and collaboration.
